Care

Planting & Growing

Provide average to lean, fast draining soil. USE CAUTION not to damage roots when planting. Water deeply, regularly in first growing season to establish root system. Reduce frequency, once established; water container plants regularly, when top 3 in. of soil are dry. Provide support such as a trellis or arbor. Apply fertilizer in spring.

Love the tree, short on service

I love the bougainvillea I purchased from Pikes in Buckhead. I was a little bummed by the service. There were many customers waiting in line to purchase items and only one staff member helping. I was then directed to my tree and after carrying it to my car, I realized they’d given me the wrong item, a chocolate vine. I carried it back into the shop and had to wait in line again to let the person at the register know I’d been given the wrong tree. She radio’d for help and a gentleman came up and directed me to my bougainvillea.

Mistakes happen but Pike’s is expensive and I’m willing to pay the price but only if the service justifies that expense.
