Provide organically rich, well-drained, acidic soil. Shelter in harsh winter climates. Keep roots cool with a thick layer of mulch. Water deeply, regularly in first few growing seasons to establish an extensive root system; once established, reduce frequency. Prune lightly to shape and apply an acid fertilizer after flowering.
