Grows well in moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soils. Shelter from wind in hot, dry regions. Follow a regular schedule of deep waterings during the first growing season to establish n extensive root system. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Prune annually to shape.
